East Shore - Post 196

Members of our Legion Riders will be heading down to Washington, DC on Memorial Day weekend to join in with thousands of riders from around the country to participate in Rolling Thunder.  The Rolling Thunder First Amendment Demonstration Run first started in 1988, but it began its mission in the era following the Vietnam War when concerns were raised that American’s military who were killed or missing in action were not being returned home or respectfully buried.

There were also many reports of prisoners of war being left behind and very little being done to get them out.  The Rolling Thunder organization has written legislation and was passed in the form of the Missing Service Personnel Act of 1993.  To this day, Rolling Thunder strives to affect national policy in a way that will assist POW/MIA’s.

Joining us will be a couple AL Riders of Post 59 from Waterbury, VT, but you don’t have to be a member to ride along.  Also, we will be joining the events at American Legion Fairfax, VA Post 177 throughout the weekend.

If interested, please contact one of the ALR members.

Kickstands up at 9am, Friday May 27th in our parking lot.
